From Saver to Investor: How Gareth Found His Financial Flow with Kaldi
Meet Gareth, who went from a savings sceptic to Kaldi enthusiast. - "Get free money from cashback which goes straight into your investment account, making saving way easier."
When Gareth spotted Kaldi in a Crowdcube email this January, he wasn't looking to revolutionise his finances. Like many of us, he'd never properly invested before, only dabbling with a bit of Crowdcube and crypto on the side. His savings strategy was essentially a basic savings account that came with his current account. Nothing fancy; nothing complicated.
"I'd never really thought about investing properly before," Gareth admits. The world of investing seemed distant, perhaps even intimidating.
But that was before Kaldi caught his eye.
First impressions matter
What made Gareth download Kaldi? "It was an interesting concept I hadn't seen before", he explains. The app that combines shopping, saving and investing in one seamless experience stood out in what has become a crowded fintech market.
Getting started proved refreshingly simple for Gareth, giving him the confidence to dive straight in. "The app is easy to use, and I really enjoyed the intro video – I found it super helpful", Gareth shares.
The straightforward onboarding process made what could have been an intimidating financial step feel approachable.
Finding value where others don't
When asked about his favourite brands to use with Kaldi, Gareth's answer comes quickly: "Amazon!" His enthusiasm makes sense when he adds, "It's a massive bonus as a lot of other cashback platforms don't offer Amazon." Saving money on everyday shopping, especially with a brand we all use, adds genuine everyday appeal.
While Gareth is still exploring Kaldi's goal-setting features, he's already established a solid savings rhythm, aiming to put £200 monthly into Kaldi to help reach his savings goals. It's early days, but the foundation for consistent saving is being laid.
Building confidence in investing
For someone who'd never properly invested before, taking that first step can be daunting. What made the difference for Gareth was the information and clarity available.
"I liked all the information that Kaldi gave. I felt reassured", he explains. Particularly impactful were the clearly defined risk levels that helped him choose an Index fund. "The risk levels were a main factor in choosing. That bit made me feel like I was making the right decision for myself."
While it's too early for Gareth to say whether Kaldi has completely transformed his perception of investing, he appreciates that his money is now active rather than dormant. As he puts it, "Instead of my money sitting in an account, it's doing something." Going from saving to investing is more than just a financial move, it’s a shift in how you think about your future.
Now, Gareth feels he's "getting more out of my money" than he did before.
The Kaldi experience
Would he recommend Kaldi to friends? Absolutely. He highlights how Kaldi helped him start investing for the first time, the intuitive app layout, the excellent cashback offerings and how it encourages mindful shopping without requiring constant attention.
If asked to explain Kaldi to someone new, Gareth's pitch is refreshingly straightforward: "Get free money from cashback which goes straight into your investment account, making saving way easier."
He sees Kaldi's mission as simple but powerful: "Helping people save whilst shopping." And the biggest benefit for Gareth? "As it's easy to use, you are likely to use it more, so you are more likely to invest." That's the beauty of good design, as it removes friction from positive financial habits.
Room for growth
While Gareth is clearly a fan, he has suggestions for making Kaldi even better. He'd love to see more utility brands added to the Discover tab, like mobile phone contracts, gas and electric providers, insurance companies and roadside assistance services like RAC and AA, which is something that Kaldi is looking in to for the future.
Looking ahead
For Gareth, Kaldi has made him think about something he hadn't seriously considered before – investing. By combining cashback rewards from everyday shopping with straightforward investing options, Kaldi has made building wealth feel accessible and integrated into his normal routine.
His journey from savings account user to investor didn't require a financial overhaul or a steep learning curve. Instead, it happened naturally through an app that made investing feel like a logical next step rather than a leap into the unknown.
That's the Kaldi difference: turning everyday shoppers into everyday investors, one purchase at a time.
